Ayse Birsel Celebrated With Athena Award from Rhode Island School of Design

4.30.08 |New York, NY | Ayse Birsel was among seven individuals honored on April 10, 2008, by the Rhode Island School of Design at its annual Athena Awards Gala in New York City. Recognized for Excellence in Furniture Design, Ms. Birsel is known for Herman Miller’s award-winning Resolve furniture system and its new Teneo storage furniture collection. The Athena awards recognize achievement in the arts by presenting distinguished service awards to individuals in the worlds of art and design, and to corporate leaders who promote design excellence, support the arts and exemplify innovation.

PB Elects Board of Directors

4.30.08 | New York, NY | James L Lammie was elected chairman of the Board of Directors for Parsons Brinckerhoff, succeeding Thomas J. O'Neill. Mr. Lammie has served on the board since 2006, and previously served as a director from 1983 through 1999.  He was president and chief executive officer of Parsons Brinckerhoff Inc. from 1990 to 1996. Richard A. Schrader, CFO was relected as the board's vice chairman.  In addition, four directors were elected to the board: Martha Clark Goss, Ashok K. Kothari, George J. Pierson and Rodney E. Slater. Each will serve a three-year term. Mr. Kothari and Mr.Pierson are employees of Parsons Brinckerhoff; Ms. Goss and Mr. Slater are non-employee directors.

Daniel Jacoby Joins FXFOWLE

Trendway Names New Regional Manager

PB's George Munfakh Receives 2008 Baker Award

4.28.08 | New York, NY | George Munfakh, a senior vice president with Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB), is the recipient of the 2008 Wallace Hayward Baker Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers.  The Baker Award is given annually by the Geo-Institute of ASCE for outstanding achievement in the geotechnical field. Dr. Munfakh, who heads PB’s geotechnical and tunneling service group, was recognized for “his work on creative applications of innovative ground modification techniques and his contributions to the advancement of ground improvement engineering.”
