4.10.08 | Denver, CO | Carl Bass, president and CEO of Autodesk, won the CAD Society's 2008 Leadership Award. The CAD Society recognized Mr. Bass for his efforts to promote sustainable product design and eco-friendly construction. As head of the company that supplies the majority of the world's design software for architects, engineers, product designers and manufacturers, Mr. Bass helped to create a higher awareness of the need, and the potential for environmentally friendly design in all aspects of life. 

4.10.08 | Ottawa, Canada | Dan S. Hanganu received the 2008 RAIC Gold Medal from the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada for his contribution to Canadian architecture. Mr Hanganu was cited for his internationally published articles and project reviews and for his understanding of architecture on people. Mr. Nanganu has a diversified practice with project ranging from single-family houses to city blocks. 

4.10.08 | Holland Landing, Ontario | Doug Lord and Brian Mirsky were named to the Board of Directors for INSCAPE Corporation. Mr. Lord serves as President of Xerox U.S. Solutions Group and Mr. Mirsky is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Fresh change Foods Group, Ltd.

4.10.08 | White Plains, NY | Peter H. Reynolds, New York Times author/illustrator, will debut his “Make Your Mark!” and “Time to Dream” lines at SURTEX, May 18-20, 2008, at New York City’'s Jacob K. Javits Center, 655 West 34th Street, NYC. Book and print signings will take place in the artist’s booth (409), on Monday, May 19, from 10:30am-12:00pm, and 2:30-4:00pm. The artist will sign copies of the new storybook, “Little Boy”, (Simon & Schuster) –a follow-up to the New York Times No. 1 Best-Selling Children’s Book “Someday,” –both of which he illustrated in collaboration with author Allison McGhee.  

4.8.08 | Grand Rapids, MI | Eva Maddox, principal at Perkins+Will I Eva Maddox Brand Environments and Haworth Company will be honored at a special event hosted by Kendall College of Art and Design on April 21, 5:30 pm, at the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre, 30 North Division, Grand Rapids, MI. Ms. Maddox will receive an honorary doctorate and Haworth will be honored for its many contributions illustrating the importance of design in business and to its commitment to education and to Kendall.  www.kcad.edu

4.8.08 | Minneapolis, MN | Julie MacLeod joined the Minneapolis office of Perkins+Will as Interior Design Leader. Previously, Ms. MacLeod was the owner 3 Studios, Inc, and also worked at Shea Architects, Inc. and Architectural Alliance. Ms. MacLeod is the recipient of several awards including the MSAIA Honor Award for the Hennepin County Public Works Facility, www.perkinswill.com

4.5.08 | New Haven, CT | Kim Plavcan died after losing a short battle with cancer. She served with many of you in her pursuit to advance the interior design profession and to design better environments in which to deliver healthcare.
