7.17.08 | Burlington, ON | IKEA launched a Web site to more clearly articulate its environmental and corporate responsibility efforts. www.theikeaway.ca is an umbrella site for social and environmental communication and partnerships and is a way to continue surveying users on those topics. 

7.16.08 | New York, NY | LJ Duffy, Inc., became a new dealership for Haworth in Manhattan, NY at 275 7th Avenue, NYC. Larry Duffy, with over 23 years of contract furniture experience, will lead the executive team. Prior to the formation of LJ Duffy, Inc., the firm worked with a diverse client base including ING New York and Google's New York Headquarters.

7.16.08 | Emeryville, CA | SCS, Scientific Certification Systems, announced that five manufacturers earned certification under its new SCS Sustainable Choice label for furniture. Manufacturers receiving certification for products, including systems furniture, casegoods, tables, and seating are Allsteel, Gunlocke,The HON Company, Kimball Office, and National Office Furniture. 

7.16.08 | Boston, MA | Gloria Cortina joined Peabody Office Furniture as a Marketing Specialist to oversee all marketing and design efforts. Formerly the Marketing Specialist at Myvu Corporation, Ms. Cortina has expertise in graphic design and web development.

7.16.08 | Wayland, NY | Gunlocke achieved an environmental benchmark, certifying products to the BIFMA (Business & Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association) Sustainability Standard through the SCS (Scientific Certification System Sustainable Choice Program). Gunlocke's case good product lines, conference table product lines, and seating lines all met qualifications for the Sustainable Choice Silver level. 

7.15.08 | Passaic, NJ | Trish Francis was named Sales Account Manager for Bendheim West in Northern California, working from the company's Oakland, CA facility. Prior to joining Bendheim, Ms. Francis served three years as showroom sales manager for American Slate Company in San Francisco, Calif., handling high-profile projects, and assisting architects and designers with project specifications.

7.15.08 | East Greenville, PA | Lou Newett, Environmental, Health and Safety Manager for Knoll received a leadership award from the Institute for Market Transformation to Sustainability (MTS).  MTS is the developer of the SMaRT Sustainable Product Standard. Mr. Newett  was honored following an orientation program on the SMaRT Standard. Mr. Newett was recognized for his contributions to the development of the SMaRT Standard. He was part of the voting process that made having a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) a requirement for SMaRT certification. The Knoll Life chair was recently rated Sustainable Gold under the SMaRT Standard.

7.15.08 | Green Bay, WI | KI showed its support for the A&D community as a sponsor of the 22nd Annual AIA Sandcastle Competition at Galveston East Beach, TX. Local architects, designers, engineers and contractors constructed elaborate sandcastles over a five-hour period in a fierce competition. Nearly 100 firms enjoyed a day of sun, sand and fun, showing off awe-inspiring structures and innovative designs. 

7.15.08 | New York, NY | Keilhauer's New York showroom was the setting on June 17-18, for an exclusive preview of new merchandise for the MoMA Design Store for Fall 2008. For the first time, Keihauer added an evening event for 400 architects and designers featuring Keilauer's newest products along with the MoMA merchandise.

Ergonomically designed, the Switch Mouse offers a V-shaped base for minimalizing wrist pronation and a navigation dish that reduces muscle activity. 7.15.08 | Toronto, ON | Teknion Corporation earned Silver recognition in the annual Aligned Manufacturer of the Year Awards sponsored by  Office Furniture Dealers Alliance. The Aligned Manufacturer of the Year Awards are
 based on an anonymous dealer survey that asks dealers to rate their top four manufacturers in the areas of Training, Product Lines, Service and Support, Sales and Marketing, Management, and Technology.
