5.30.08 | Zeeland, MI | Herman Miller again was selected by IndustryWeek magazine for its annual listing of the 50 Best U.S. Manufacturing Companies. Herman Miller is the only contract furniture manufacturer to appear on the list, which is available in the publication’s June 2008 issue. The magazine factor's in revenue growth and profit margin over the past three years. They also evaluate a three year performance in four other financial ratios. 

5.30.08 | Atlanta, GA | INVISTA, received recertification of ANTRON carpet fiber as an Environmentally Preferable Product (EPP) by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS).  ANTRON carpet fiber recertification was based on a comprehensive cradle-to-gate life cycle assessment (LCA) conducted by Boustead Consulting Ltd.

5.29.08 | Chicago, IL | AGATI adds to its collection of seating and lounge chairs with the addition of Jet and Kala, a lower-priced, lighter weight contemporary stacking chair. Available with or without arms, both versions stack and are available in natural or stained finishes. Standard fabric colors are available, as well as customer's own material.

5.29.08 | Muscatine, IA | Allsteel hired three people for its national sales force.  Ann shieder joins the company as Government Account Manager for the Mid-Atlantic region. Brent Harris was named Business Development Manager for the Southwest, and Nicole Freilich, a recent graduate of the University of Delaware, is stepping into the position of Market Manager for the Northeast region. 

5.29.08 | Toronto, ON | Hudson's Bay Company (Hbc) will partner with Global Group and Harkel Office Furniture to furnish its newly redesigned head office in Brampton, ON with eco-friendly products. Global Group will manufacture furnishing for approximately 1200 new work units in Hbc’s Brampton office and Harkel Office Furniture will distribute and service the office furnishings. 

5.29.08 | Montvale, NJ | Benjamin Moore will open showrooms in New York and Chicago. Both will incorporate innovative displays and state-of-the-art lighting that enable expert color viewing in a range that includes daylight, natural light, incandescent and halogen lighting. Additionally, the showroom spaces include work areas for designers and are configured for special events. The Chicago Showroom, at the Merchandise Mart, will open in early June.  The New York Showroom, at the New York Design Center, will be ready July 1. Both Benjamin Moore Designer Showrooms are open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

5.29.08 | Muscatine, IA | Allsteel conducted a survey through Harris Interactive on the comfort and style of office chairs. Feedback from chair users indicate that only 17% found their chair very comfortable, that 32% actually found their chair uncomfortable, and 57% would like to replace their chair. Concluding that comfort makes for more productive workers, Allsteel recommends an office chair that provides healthy movement and proper support as a priority.

5.29.08 | Delray Beach, CA | Office Depot received volume pre-certification under the LEED Program from the USGBC, for its store prototype design. Environmental attributes include solar tracking skylights and reflective white roofs The first Office Depot store to be built to this prototype is located in Austin, Texas and is scheduled to open late next month.

5.28.08 | Muscatine, IA | Allsteel fashioned a winner for its recent participation in “ProductRunway” benefiting the Interior Design Coalition of Washington. The Seattle A&D programpartnered manufacturers with architectural firms to create coutureensembles in a take-off of Bravo TV's Project Runway. Allsteel was paired in early January with one of two Callison teams to provide furnishings materials. Together, they received one of the three top spots.

The custom-built lab, with an interactive exhibition of materials and products tailored to Haworth'’s specific design needs and business objectives, –goes beyond the company's consulting and materials library services. The lab will offer a rotating selection of material samples from Material ConneXion's library of over 4,500 materials and a collection of products that will highlight inventive combinations in design and materials.
