Smart Designer is a 3D space planner for easily designing, planning, and purchasing rooms online in 3D. The contest, sponsored by Herman Miller will award a $2,500 SmartFurniture.com gift card to one of the five finalists chosen each week during February.

Building Museum Honor Award for its commitment to civic
innovation in design, construction, and education throughout its 75-year
history. It is the first time an architecture firm has
been selected as an Honor Award recipient since its inception in 1986. Among Perkins+Will's many achievements is its leadership in sustainable
design. Perkins+Will was the first multi-office firm to commit to the
2030 Challenge, pledging that all projects be designed for carbon
neutrality by the year 2030.

2.4.10 | Marietta, GA | Durkan, the hospitality brand of The Mohawk Group issued a Call for Entries for its first carpet design contest. Supported by HNWH (Network of Executive Women in Hospitality), D*scover aims to exhibit the talent of hospitality designers, while contributing toward the

2.2.10 | Norwalk, CT | EMCOR Group's Energy Services Unit was recognized for its EcoLine TM Project. The project was named the "2009 Project of the Year" by the EPA's Landfill Methane Outreach Program. The program recognizes landfill methane capture projects for innovation in generating
renewable energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The EcoLine TM Project converts landfill gas into a medium BTU quality
gas, which is then used to produce environmentally clean electric power for both
the University of New Hampshire and the local electrical grid.

new $20 million Southwest Parking Garage Complex won the 2009 Award of Excellence for New
Design from the Florida Parking Association.
The complex was named the nation's first LEED
Gold parking garage facility and is also a candidate to be
certified as LEED Platinum .

with The Emerging New York Architects Committee of the American Institute
of Architects New York Chapter and the Structural Engineers
Association of New York to sponsor a competition. A Call for Proposals has been issued to design and construct an architectural pavilion for the 2010 summer season on Governors Island. The City of Dreams Pavilion will be a gathering place for people to meet,
learn about the arts programs on the island, and enjoy a performance or lecture. Registration deadline is February 8, 2010.

Is... awards. Entrants are asked to define what
design is through the challenges, processes and results of their
projects. Entries will be accepted through February 26. Winning firms each receive $2,000 to donate to a school or organization of their choice.

full-time students attending 2-or 4-year U.S. colleges or universities.
The contest, titled "Hey, Where Do You Learn Best?", encourages
students to document areas on or off campus that best support their
learning.
Contest entries will be accepted until March 26, 2010. Selection will be based on creativity, originality and appropriateness to the theme. First prize
will be a $2500 Visa gift card. Each submission must be 2-3 minutes.
