Mannington Commercial To Launch Design Contest

Two Illinois Students Named ASID-IL Scholarship Winners

11.14.08 | Chicago, IL | Christine Brady and Melissa Szeredy received Richard R. Smith Memorial Scholarships from ASID-IL. Each was awarded a $1,000 check to offset fees for tuition, books and supplies for the current school year. The Richard R. Smith Memorial Scholarship competition is based upon excellence in design. 

Wilson Associates Named Finalist In Gold Key Awards

11.13.08 | Dallas, TX | Wilson Associates were finalists in the Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design. The Westin Hotel Guangzhou in China was a Finalist for Best Guest Room and the St. Regis Singapore was named a Finalist for Best Suite. The winning designs are published in the October issue of Interior Design and the November issue of Hotels.  


NEMSI Wins 2008 Design/Build Award

11.13.08 | Vernon, CT | EMCOR Services New England Mechanical won first place in the 2008 Design/Build Award program. The company was recognized for its work on The Renaissance, a high-rise residential building in Shelton, CT. The Contracting Business Design/Build Awards program honors the most creative and innovative work being done by commercial HVAC contractors across the nation.

CF Stinson Wins Second Consecutive Nightingale Award

11.13.08 | Washington, DC | C.F.Stinson won a second consecutive Nightingale Award for its Patterned PVC-free upholstery collection. The collection comes in 3 patterns; Hoopla, Eclipse, and Flutter, and is manufactured using a patent-pending technology for durability, cleanability and sustainability. Predominantly made with recycled materials and recycled polyester backing, and produced using water-based inks, the fabrics can contribute to LEED CI credits under various sections of the LEED Certification documentation and process.

Nurture By Steelcase Wins Second Nightingale Award

The award was given for its caregiver workspace solution, SYNC. KI Wins Third Nightingale Award In Four Years

11.12.08 | Green Bay, WI | KI's Arissa Collection won a Nightingale Award at the Healthcare Design Conference. This marks KI’s third Nightingale Award over the past four years. The Arissa Collection is a durable, universal seating collection that does not segregate users by size or weight. It uses a patent pending seat geometry that supports up to 750 pounds without appearing oversized or overly delicate. 

2008 Nightingale Awards Announced

healthcare product design. The award ceremony was held during Healthcare Design 2008 in Washington, DC.

Herman Miller And Hewlett Packard Win H. Bruce Russell Innovator's Award

11.12.08 | Zeeland, MI | Herman Miller and Hewlett Packard took home the H. Bruce Russell Innovator's Award, corporate real estate's biggest prize. The award, given for excellence in sustainable leadership, economic development leadership and corporate real estate workplace innovation, was presented to the industry giants for their space utilization model, which features sensors on desk chairs to detect human presence. Using the information from the sensors, HP reconfigured its Melbourne, Australia office to reduce its cost per employee by 55%. The award was presented at the CoreNet Global Summit in Orlando, FL.


The HON Company Wins Green Product Of The Year Award

11.11.08 | Muscatine, IA | The HON Company received the inaugural Green Product of the Year Award. Canadian Office Products Association presented it to the company for its Initiate Panel System with Nature Core, a panel filled with a sustainable, natural fiber called kenaf. The award recognizes a product that promotes sustainability, conservation and demonstrates how to significantly reduce one’s environmental footprint.

Airport Facilities Council Of IFMA Names 2008 Excellence Award Winners

11.11.08 | Houston, TX | Airport Facilities Management Excellence Award winners were announced by the Airport Facilities Council of the International Facility Management Association. Representatives from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, San Diego International Airport and others were selected based on five criteria: leadership, innovation, sustainability, customer service and operational efficiency.

AIA Announces Recipients Of The IDP Outstanding Firm Award

Los Angeles AIA Awards Honors Three For Built Architecture

11.7.08 | Los Angeles, CA | The Los Angeles chapter of the AIA gave top honors to three projects for built architecture.
  • The Water + Life Museums and Campus in Hemet, California, by Lehrer + Gangi Design + Build
  • The Art Center College of Design's South Campus in Pasadena, by Daly Genik 
  • NOAA Satellite Operations Facility in Suitland, Maryland, by Morphosis.
Twenty-five awards were given to Los Angeles architects for projects across the United States and around the world.

Watercube Wins Jorn Utzon Award

11.7.08 | Beiijing, China | The Watercube won the Jorn Utzon Award for International Architecture.  Also known as the Chinese National Aquatic Center where the 2008 Olympic Swimming and Diving Competitions were held, the Watercube was a joint collaboration with the the Australian firm PTW Architects, Chinese practices CSCEC, CCDI and the international firm, Arup.
