Convia Announces Partnership with Sylvania Lighting Services

8.24.10 | Buffalo Grove, IL | Convia (A Herman Miller Company) announced its partnership with the country’s largest lighting maintenance provider, Sylvania Lighting Services (SLS). The partnership will help Convia customers meet energy management goals by giving them access to Sylvania’s technicians nationwide for commissioning and maintenance services. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, as much as 20% of energy could be saved through continuous commissioning — the process of ensuring a building is performing as intended — yet studies show half of new buildings fail to realize their full energy savings potential. Convia technology helps buildings maintain aggressive energy management strategies — and adapt to the evolving needs of the people and organizations who occupy them — by integrating the control and metering of a space’s lighting, plug load and HVAC applications. “Ongoing commissioning of energy management strategies is vital for buildings to achieve long-term savings and optimal performance, and our customers have come to rely on Convia to help with this process,” said Randy Storch, president of Convia. “Now they’ll benefit from the added expertise of Sylvania’s highly trained technicians to ensure they are fully maximizing the use of our technology. Sylvania’s broad network of energy commissioning experts will allow for an on-the-ground resource for all of our customers regardless of locale.”

The new projects inquiry index dropped substantially from 57.7 in June to 53.1 in July. "Business conditions at design firms remain quite volatile," said AIA Chief Economist Kermit Baker.
