Steelcase Introduces Heavy Metal-free Polyester Textiles

11.20.08 | Boston, MA | Steelcase unveiled its first collection of antimony-free polyester textiles at Greenbuild 2008. Antimony is a heavy metal commonly used as a catalyst for manufacturing recycled polyester. Part of the Inspire Collection, the Cogent group, with three seating upholsteries and two vertical surface fabrics, received Cradle to Cradle Gold. The fabric designs, which come with a five year warranty, were created in a collaborative effort with Steelcase's design team, its textile mill partners and Designtex.

The project was designed by the San Francisco Bureau of Architecture.
