Investment analysis firm Raymond James & Associates
reaffirmed its Outperform rating on HNI
Corp. and increased its earnings estimates following release
of the company's significantly better-than-expected second-quarter 2010
results and management's conference call. The company's 6.3% increase in sales
over last year's second quarter "marks the company's first
consolidated year-over-year revenue increase since 4Q06," said analyst Budd Bugatch.

7.22.10 | Chicago, IL | USG Corp. reported net sales of $769 million, an operating loss of $25 million, and a net loss of $74 million for its 2010 second quarter. Chairman and CEO William C. Foote noted that these results were a "significant improvement" over the the first quarter of 2010, which showed an operating loss of $82 million and net loss of $110 million. The reduction in the operating loss "demonstrates the effectiveness of our many initiatives to improve margins and reduce overall costs," he said. "When the economy recovers and demand improves, we expect to achieve substantial operating leverage in our businesses."
