Valley Forge Fabrics Donates Sheeting to Haitian Earthquake Survivors.

Lauderdale, FL | Valley Forge Fabrics donated 300 sets of sheets to the American Red Cross for Haitian earthquake survivors who are being treated for medical conditions in the South Florida area. Valley Forge learned from the American Red Cross that there was a tremendous need for certain supplies for injured and displaced Haitians who have been temporarily relocated to South Florida for medical treatment. Valley Forge has an established fabric reclamation program. The company reclaimed 300 sheet sets from a hotel customer made of Tencel + Plus Lyocell Eucalyptus Fiber  a new, innovative, and environmental textile, and provided them to the American Red Cross. Through its partnership with the Red Cross, Valley Forge delivered the products locally to the South Florida community who has taken the majority of the Haitian earthquake victims transported to the United States for urgent medical care.

ABI Down Almost Three Points

2.24.10 | Washington, DC |The American Institute of Architects reported that the Architecture Billings Index for January was 42.5, down almost three points from December's revised ABI score of 45.4. The new projects inquiry score was 52.5, down more than seven points. "Projects are being delayed or canceled because lending institutions are placing unusually stringent equity requirements on new developments," said AIA Chief Economist Kermit Baker.

AGATI Completes Library Project

2.26.10 | Chicago, IL | AGATI Furniture announces its completion of the Andrew Maguire Saul Library at Georgetown Preparatory School in North Bethesda, Maryland. AGATI modified its Brown Collection to provide custom designed tables and computer stations for the former field house renovation. In its place, a state of the art student center opened earlier this year providing students with a 9,000 sq.ft. library with increased seating, as well as more classrooms, a student center and administrative offices. AGATI collaborated with Jo Fleming of Interior Design Resources in McLean, VA to select tables made of European Beech with laminate tops. The library’s custom aesthetic was based on AGATI’s previous designs at both the University of Pennsylvania Law School and Duke Law Library which both featured the Brown Collection.

Inscape Purchases Falconer Manufacturing Facility

Inscape had been leasing the facility for its architectural products division since 2001. The Falconer, New York facility was constructed to specific movable wall manufacturing requirements on a brownfield industrial redevelopment site. Once declared a hazardous waste site, the property was reclaimed and repurposed after it lay dormant for many years.

Allsteel Presents At the Office Exhibition in Dubai

NCIDQ Publishes New Multiple-Choice Practice Tests

2.25.10 | Washington, DC | The National Council for Interior Design Qualification, Inc. released two multiple-choice practice tests for exam candidates and others to use when preparing for the NCIDQ Examination. The online practice tests are available exclusively through NCIDQ’s store, QShop, linked from their Web site at www.ncidq.org. The all-new practice tests were developed in response to exam candidates who wanted valid, reliable study materials directly from NCIDQ, particularly in light of the restructuring of the exam content that took effect in January 2010. NCIDQ has prepared two practice tests—one for each of the two multiple-choice exams. Section 1 covers codes, building systems, construction standards and construction administration. Section 2 covers design application, project coordination and professional practice. The multiple-choice sections of the exam will be administered at more than 60 locations around the United States and Canada on April 9 and October 1.

Kimball Office Select Dealer Offers Businesses Unique Gift to Send To Troops
