an open international design competition to design Kazakhstan’s National Library in Astana. The library, named after the first President of the
Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev was chosen by the Prime Minister of
Kazakhstan K. Masimov together with Astana’s akim I.Tasmagambetov and a
council of architects. The design of the National Library combines four universal archetypes, the circle, the rotunda, the arch and the yurt, into a new national symbol, the Moebius strip.

8.25.09 | New York, NY | The Architectural League will move to 594 Broadway in Soho on September 1. The move was made possible by Newmark Knight Frank, which has made the space available to
the League on very favorable terms. They anticipate being there three years before moving to more permanent quarters.
8.25.09 | Cartersville, GA | Shaw Commercial Division announced the creation of Shaw Contract Group Australia. The newest subsidiary is based on the acquisition of Purchasing Solutions, its assets and employees. Shaw Contract Group Australia will maintain its headquarters in Melbourne and will service all states throughout the country and in New Zealand.

Gehley was hired as vice president and studio
leader. He will lead the studio's sustainable design and educational

8.24.09 | East Greenville, PA | Knoll, Inc. announced that it filed a universal shelf registration
statement on Form S-3 with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Upon being
declared effective, the shelf registration statement will permit
Knoll to offer and sell from time to time, up to $300 million of
equity, debt, or other types of securities described in the
registration statement, or any combination thereof, in one or more
future public offerings.

Sorrell this December. Mr. Finch is Programme Director of the World Architecture Festival, editor
emeritus of Architectural Review and Architects' Journal and has chaired CABE's London 2012 design review panel since
2006.
8.24.09 | Atlanta, GA | HOK Atlanta achieved LEED-CI Gold certification for its redesigned showroom. The 18,000 sq. ft. space on the 41st floor of One Ninety One Peachtree Tower was completed in 2008. The design employs maximum day lighting, advanced environmental
controls and 100% of its energy usage was offset with the purchase of renewable energy credits.
8.24.09 | Mumbai, India | Kyoorius Designyatra is scheduled for September 4-7 at the
Hotel Renaissance, Powai, 2 & 3b Near Chinmayanand Ash, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. The four day
conference on design in all forms, including advertising and design, architecture design and branding will feature guest speakers Sir Martin
Sorrell, Rodney Fitch, Michael Wolff, Wally Olins, and Priya Paul. The festival will
include workshops and a scheduled matchmaking session. As
part of this initiative, 14 Dutch companies will be participating in the
festival to actively seek collaborations with the Indian design

announced that U.S. executive Tad Smith is leaving as CEO of
Reed Business Information-U.S., effective immediately. CFO John

competition, honors design excellence in products, eco design,
interaction design, packaging, strategy, research, and concepts. Herman Miller's
Materials Program consists of two components:

Materials website of more than 1,600 materials.

York, NY | Perkins Eastman was commissioned by NYSE Euronext to design the "next generation trading floor". Renovations will be made to the floor's main room, replacing traditional broker booths with modern trading desks, new screens, and workspaces. The
refurbishment plan will continue over the next 18 months. The finished space will likely
resemble NYSE Euronext's new NYSE Amex options trading floor—also
designed by Perkins Eastman.
