7.28.09 | Muscatine, IA | The HON Company's Chicago Showroom received LEED-CI Silver certification. The space was redesigned to embrace the direction of HON's newest products and exhibits design features. HON partnered with SmithGroup on the redesign of the showroom. The space maximizes daylight and views with an open pavilion of flexible zones arranged into four main lateral pavilions. HON used recycled materials throughout, including doors, glass, carpet and custom recycling bins.

7.27.09 | Hangzhou, China | UNStudio of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, revealed its design for the mixed-use Raffles City development in Hangzhou, China. The 60-story project will include retail, offices, housing, and hotel facilities . Completion is expected in 2012, and UNStudio expects the project to receive LEED Gold certification.

Blattner Energy, Inc. is an energy general contractor for construction solutions. The Design/Build consultants for the project were Knutson Construction with URS Corporation, Architects and Engineers. The new headquarters is seeking LEED Platinum for its sustainable features, most notably its use of wells and ground source heat pumps as a source of heating and cooling, coupled with an ice storage system for using off-peak power to create ice for day time cooling.

the teams will be awarded $5,000 and the selected partner school

7.23.09 | Atlanta, GA| LIGHTFAIR International ended its 20th annual event with record-breaking registrations of 23,416 industry professionals and conference participants. The May 2009 event increased attendance by 8.5% and exhibit booths by 6% from LFI 2007 in New York. The exhibit hall sold out with 476 national and international manufacturers showcasing the latest product designs. LFI featured three product-specific Pavilions and more than 220 hours of courses and seminars were presented. To-date, the 2010 trade show floor, May 12-14, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV, is 82% sold out.
