7.23.09 | Marietta, GA | AQS developed an Environmental Chamber Protocol for measuring sulfur compounds from drywall. Since December 2008, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)
has received more than 600 reports from residents in 21 states and the
District of Columbia who believe their health symptoms or corrosion of
certain metal components in their homes are related to drywall produced
in China. To assist manufacturers, users and public health agencies, Air Quality
Sciences developed the protocol for
evaluating odor perceptions and chemical emissions from drywall and
other porous materials such as ceiling tile.

7.21.09 | Alexandria, VA | National Office Products Alliance reported that California and Ohio joined other states in opening civil fraud investigations of Office Depot. Office Depot disclosed on its investor website that the investigation will look into its $700 million "U.S. Communities" national contract that local governments, school districts and public institutions draw upon to purchase office
and school supplies. The U.S. Departments of Defense and Education and the General Service
Administration, with coordination from the U.S. Department of Justice,
are conducting their own investigations into Office Depot’s handling of
federal government office supplies contracts.

for Vision and Leadership in Sustainable Housing. Sponsored by The Hanley Foundation, EcoHome magazine
and Hanley Wood LLC, a media and information
company in Washington, DC, Mr. Mazria will receive a $50,000 grant in November at the USGBC international conference and expo in Phoenix, AZ. For 35 years, Mr. Mazria has influenced advances in design and technology through his architecture, teaching and writing. In 2002, Mr. Mazria formed Architecture 2030, a nonprofit environmental research and education organization in
Santa Fe.

Corp. will close its Louisburg, NC, factory to reduce costs. The plant, which employs 93 workers, will close
by the end of the year and work will be moved to other locations. The closing
