Significant Downturn In Nonresidential Construction Activity Projected Through 2010

7.15.09 | Washington, DC | AIA's semi-annual Consensus Construction Forecast survey anticipates a significant downturn in nonresidential construction activity through 2010. Nonresidential construction spending is expected to decrease by 16% in 2009 and drop by another almost 12% in 2010 in inflation adjusted terms. Commercial projects will see the most significant decrease in activity. In contrast, most institutional building categories are expected to see much more modest declines over this period.

City of Anaheim Selects HOK And Parsons Brinckerhoff For ARTIC Project

7.14.09 | Los Angeles, CA | HOK, Los Angeles, and Parsons Brinckerhoff were selected to design phase one of the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center. The intermodal transportation hub (ARTIC) is a sustainable, transportation facility linking commuter and regional rail service as well as intercity bus, taxi and local transit. Future phases will expand the center to accommodate California high-speed rail and will serve as the terminus for the super-speed train between Las Vegas and Southern California.  A LEED Platinum goal has been set for the hub, which is sceduled to break ground in 2010 and completed by mid-2013.

IFMA Announces New Chapter In Trinidad And Tobago

7.14.09 | Houston, TX | IFMA announced the formation of its newest chapter, the Trinidad and Tobago Chapter of IFMA in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. SJ Airport Concourse By Genlser Opens

7.14.09 | San Jose, CA | Gensler celebrated the opening of the first six gates of the Terminal B Concourse at Mineta San Jose International Airport. Gensler, in collaboration with Steinberg Architects, served as master design architect for the airport's $1.3 billion modernization program.  Terminal B Concourse is designed to meet the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED certification standards.
