7.14.09 | Los Angeles, CA | HOK, Los Angeles, and Parsons Brinckerhoff were selected to design phase one of the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center. The intermodal transportation hub (ARTIC) is a sustainable, transportation facility linking commuter and regional rail service as
well as intercity bus, taxi and local transit. Future phases will
expand the center to accommodate California high-speed rail and will serve as the
terminus for the super-speed train between Las Vegas and Southern
California. A LEED Platinum goal has been set for the hub, which is sceduled to break ground in 2010 and completed by mid-2013.

A LEED-like program for the contract furniture market, level verifies conformance to BIFMA's e3 sustainability standard through a recognized third-party certifier. 7.14.09 | Houston, TX | IFMA announced the formation of its newest chapter, the Trinidad and Tobago Chapter of IFMA in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
Tyrel Melville, manager of facilities maintenance at Delta Dynamics, will serve as the chapter
president and Keith Spencer, CFM, general manager at Servus, will
serve as the chapter vice president and Keith Spencer, general manager at Servus, will
serve as the chapter vice president. Approximately 30 Trinidad and Tobago facility professionals are already members of the new chapter.

the opening of the first six gates of the Terminal B Concourse at Mineta San Jose International Airport. Gensler, in collaboration with Steinberg Architects, served as master design architect for the airport's $1.3 billion modernization program. Terminal B Concourse is designed to meet the U.S. Green Building
Council's LEED certification standards.

7.10.09 | Green Bay, WI | KI hosted its first "Pump Up the Glam" shoe party in Coral Gables, FL. Designers, architects and KI staff modeled their fanciest footwear designed
using collections from Pallas Textiles. The event was more than a networking party; it was a contest among design
firms. The first 100 respondents could participate in
the contest, where contestants had to “glam
up” a pair of shoes or boots — and a shoe box — using Pallas
Textiles. The best shoe designs won prizes for the winning firms valued at
$500, including a grand prize of happy hour hosted by KI and carpet
manufacturer J&J Invision.
