12.11.07 | Cambridge, MA | Forrester Research conducted a survey of 5,000 adults and the results indicate that 25 million Americans or 12% of the population are "bright greens," buyers absolutely willing to spend more for environmentally friendly electronics, or for products that come from a green company. The findings from their survey, "In Search of Green Technology Consumers," also indicate that 41%, about 90 million people, make up the green consumer group. The remaining 47% are non-greens and not concerned about the environment or global warming and are not willing to pay more more energy efficient products. Further results show that Apple boasts the highest number of green consumers, with 17% bright green, following by HP brand Compaq with 13%. However, these numbers may have less to do with computer makers than computer buyers, as a report from Net Applications finds that Apple has highest penetration in blue-state markets. A full report from Forrester is available for $279 at Forrester.com.
