12.03.07 | Panama City, Panama | URS Corporation prepared the Environmental Impact Assessment for the Panama Canal Authority for the $5.2 billion expansion of the Panama Canal. URS reviewed more than 200 previous studies, conducted environmental and social baseline analysis, and oversaw the development and application of a methodology. The expansion of the locks by 150 feet and the construction of two lock facilities at each end of the canal is the largest such project since the canal opened in 1914. Construction is expected to be completed in 2014.

The Resource Center is located in the historic Toronto Carpet Factory in the city's Liberty Village neighborhood. The showroom is housed in the Boiler House and boasts 60-foot ceilings, 20-foot original lead glass windows and exposed brick walls. Allsteel's Resource Center has the distinction of being one of the first 10 LEED-CI registered projects in Canada. figure3 and the Allsteel team focused on reusing as much of the original building and materials as possible and recycling construction debris.

11.30.07 | Miami,FL | Poltrona Frau will hold an opening reception on Tuesday, December 4 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Poltrona Frau showroom, 10 NE 39th Street, for an exhibition of 15 emerging designers from Naples and the surrounding area. The contemporary collective, Mundus Viviendi, presents Interior Design, which refers to both the design of the exhibition space and the incorporation of the artwork on display. 11.30.07 | Chicago, IL | BIG Architects will exhibit the CPH EXPERIMENT from December 5, 2007- March 1, 2008 at the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts, the Madlener House, 4 West Burton Place, Chicago.
The exhibition presents projects that are all specific urban experiments conducted in Copenhagen since January 2001 by the Bjarke Ingels Group, which show new styles of urban life forms, including residential diversity, modular mania and urban ascension. The projects in the exhibition are the VM Houses,
the Mountain Dwellings, the Scala Tower, Kløverkarréen, and the LEGO
Towers, the Battery, and the Escher Tower. The construction of a 250,000 piece LEGO model which has taken over five weeks to build also can be followed.
