The deadline is January 28, 2008. Five $5,000 scholarships will be
awarded. In addition, the winners and five honorable mention students each
will receive a one year IIDA student membership. Applicants must be

11.22.07 | Leonia, NJ | The Rochelle Park, the New Jersey office of Stantec is providing architectural and engineering design services for a new office/light industrial building for Kulite Semiconductor Products, Inc. The new building, scheduled to begin in January, 2008, will blend with the other two buildings for a cohesive complex. It will be located on an exising parking lot to reduce the impact on a wetlands buffer that occupies almost half of the property. Completion is expected by the end of 2008.

11.22.07 | DongGuan, China | W.A.C. Lighting opened its Global Manufacturing Facility and Campus in QingXi, DongGuan, China, celebrating 10 years of manufacturing its product line abroad. The 750,000 sq. ft. facility, has incorporated several sustainable initiatives including solar panels for heating water and providing warmth, developing a recycling systems to collect and re-use water for landscaping and powering machinery, and developing a system for recycling scrap metal. School of Advanced International Studies team bested 100 other teams to win the Thunderbird Sustainable Innovation Summit, earning them $20,000 and the title Global Champions of Sustainable Innovation. The challenge offered by event sponsor, Johnson & Johnson was how to cater to the medical needs of diabetic patients in China. The other sponsor, Arizona Public Service, wanted to know how it could make sustainability a core business value. 11.21.07 | Broomfield, CO | Corporate Express US Inc., part of the Dutch based Corporate Express NV, is purchasing 100% renewable energy credits for its Colorodo facilities, including its headquarters in Broomfield and Northglenn, customer service and distribution centers in Aurora, and breakpoint distribution facility in Colorado Springs. Corporate Express employs approximately 2,000 employees in Colorado.The move will prevent approximately 6,000 metric tons of CO2 from entering the earth's atmosphere annually, the environmental equivalent to taking more than 1,300 cars off the
road for one year or the electricity used by almost 800 households

The idX Green Product Challenge is open to all exhibitors at GlobalShop 2008 at the McCormick Place in Chicago from March 18-20. Entries will be on display at the idX Green Product Showcase and the winning product will be chosen by show attendees, retailers, consumer products companies and retail store design firms through interactive voting kiosks at the show. The winning product will be recognized at the A.R.E. Retail Design Awards on March 18 with an award valued at $10,000.
