11.16.07 | Parsippany, NJ | Skanska USA Building Inc. donated labor and materials to complete construction of an aquatic therapy pool for Cerebral Palsy of North Jersey's Horizon School (CPNJ). The school offers educational and therapeutic programs supported
by specialized medical services for students ages 3-21 with multiple
disabilities. The project was abandoned by another contractor and highlighted on a news report, bringing it to Skanska's attention.
Superintendent Robert Boyle will be responsible for managing
the 1,500 sq. ft. addition, which includes two shower changing rooms,
restrooms, storage for pool equipment and a pump room for the pool.

11.16.07 | Washington, DC | The 2007 Autodesk/AIA Green Index, an annual survey which measures how AIA members are practicing sustainable design, revealed an increase in green design. The survey reports 70% of architects see client demand as the leading driver of green building and that the primary reason these owners and developers are demanding greener buildings is to reduce operating costs. Architects are responding by significantly
increasing their use of sustainable elements such as high-efficiency HVAC
systems, recycled building materials and using software to model energy

His preliminary design shows a 75-story steel and glass structure which tapers as it rises. 11.15.07 | Dallas, TX | IA Interior Architects won the Most Environmentally-Friendly Design at Furniture 4 Kids, an annual charity event to support the Mavs Foundation, the Dallas Maverick charity which assists local youth through programs stressing education, good health and learning life skills. Twenty-six design firms were given identical sets of children size tables and chairs to re-design and decorate. IA's idea was: Kids Goin Green, a gardening table designed to encourage children to take an active role in the natural environment. With compartments for clay pots, some vegetable seeds, a pail and gardening tools, the table was educational and inviting.

11.15.07 | Columbus, OH | The Akron-summit County Public Library Kenmore Branch is the final stage of a project begun in 1997 to expand or replace 15 out of 17 library branches. MoodyNolan will oversee the $2.5 million dollar project which is located on the site of the former Kenmore Fire Station. The 11,500 sq. ft. facility triples the size of the current library, which will be converted to a parking lot.

11.15.07 | Boston, MA | Steffian Bradley Architects collaborated with vendors from Blueridge Carpet and Crossville Tile to win Best in Show at the Interior Design Boston Fashion Show on October 25. The theme, What's Next? led SBA to think of the fluctuating state of water and its ability to symbolize the changes in all living things. The costumes represented Ice, Water and Vapor and were largely constructed of raw materials such as un-backed carpet, carpet yarn, fiber pellets and tiles. The costumes were modeled by SBA staff members.

The umbrella program tells about the Greenworks Center for processing all types of synthetic carpet fiber and about the patent pending technology for processing 100% of the carpet fiber, backing and latex.
