11.12.07 | Norwood, NJ | The Rochelle Park, the New Jersey office of Stantec, was retained to design new offices for The Control Group, a printing and packaging company. They will provide architectural, engineering and interior design services for a building whose interior will be completely demolished to create executive offices, general offices and laboratories. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2008.

11.12.07 | New York, NY | Gerner Kronick + Valcarel, Architects will renovate the 21st floor and part of the 17th floor of the Rockefeller Center building to create new offices for GAM, Global Asset Management. Their design incorporates glass and wood to create unique work environments. The public areas and office fronts will use 4"x8" wood bricks mixed with glass, and wood-frame fabric ceilings will be used for the conference rooms. A completion date is slated for January 2008.

11.12.07 | Atlanta, GA | Global Link Logistics expanded its FLEX, Furniture Less than container EXpress, service to the Midwest to include markets in Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. 11.09.07 | Zeeland, MI | Herman Miller was recognized as one the the 20 Best Green Companies for America's Children by Working Mother Magazine in the November 2007 issue. The magazine terms Herman Miller an eco-design innovator, and describes
the company's LEED Gold certified National Design Center in Atlanta an example of what can happen when creative ingenuity meets eco-consciousness. The story also hailed Herman Miller for being the largest used of renewable energy in the design industry and for its commitment to sustainable principles.

11.09.07 | New York, NY | Visionaire, Battery Park's latest residential addition is going for LEED Platinum, the highest standard for buildings. Developed by the Albanese Organization and Starwood
Capital Group, and designed by the architectural firm Pelli Clarke Pelli,
the Visionaire will house 251 units in 35 stories, totaling 350,000 sq
ft. The building will also have about 4,500 sq ft of ground-floor retail
as well as the new 40,000-sq ft headquarters of the
Battery Park City Parks Conservancy. Some of the features included in the design are solar panels, a black water system for water re-use, a curtain wall design for improved thermal abilities, higher performing glass, and a terra cotta based material for the exterior. Construction, led by the Turner Construction Company is expected to be completed by the summer, 2008.

11.06.07 | Chicago, IL | Steelcase, introduces EcoLease, a program which provides a way to acquire sustainable products while minimizing capital spending. EcoLease is designed with the end of a product's useful life in mind.
Customers can select from Steelcase Inc.'s portfolio of
Cradle-to-Cradle(TM) certified furniture, architecture and technology products, and use them for a period of up to seven years at a lease rate lower than Steelcase Financial's "Preferred Rates." At the end of the predetermined period, customers can choose to either purchase the products or return them to Steelcase Financial Services.

Mr. Cole, who joined the firm in 1998, has served as Director of Historic Preservation and has spent the last 22 years solely in restoration, rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of existing educational, institutional commercial, civic, religious and residential buildings. Mr. Cole has led the firm's restoration work at New York City's Hall of Records and Criminal Courts Building, the IRS Headquarters Building in Washington, DC and the West Virginia State Capitol. KI, which has partnered with the college on previous projects, is providing everything, from the furniture to the space arrangements. Included in the design are Torsion on the Go! chairs, Tandem table systems, Barron tables, Rapture stack seating and 700 Series files and storage systems.

11.9.07 | Miami, FL | Mundus Vivendi, a collective of 15 emerging designers from Naples and the surrounding area will present an exhibition titled Interior Design at the Poltrona Frau Showroom, 10 N.E. 39th Street, Miami, FL, in the Miami Design District from December 5-9, 2007. The project is designed to promote and support the Campania region’s artistic community both domestically and internationally.
The objects and furniture on view are created from traditional
materials such as glass, ceramic, wood, wrought iron, and fabric. They
are tied together through the common themes of the four elements
(water, earth, air, and fire) and the inspiration of Mount Vesuvius,
one of the Campania’s major geographical landmarks.

11.09.07 | Cambridge, MA | Frank Gehrey, according to the Associated Press, was sued by the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology for design flaws in the $300
million Strata Center, home to offices, classrooms, labs and meeting
places. Also named in the suit is Beacon Skanska Construction, now
known as Skanska USA Building Inc. The center, completed in 2004, has
unconventional walls and angles, which the school asserts, have caused
dangerous accumulations of snow, drainage problems and mold growth.
An executive for Skanska states that Mr. Gehrey was apprised of
several design flaws before construction began and that Skanska
construction has never been a part of the problem. Neither Mr. Gehrey or
MIT would further comment because of the pending lawsuit.

11.8.07 | Atlanta, GA | Zooey Chu was the guest speaker at a seminar held at the Global Atlanta Showcase Showroom in late October. The event, planned by Tony Nelson, New Business Development Manager at
Corporate Environments and Bryce Otte, GLOBAL A&D Territory
Manager, included three sessions over a two day period. Global is planning for future seminars to continue sharing ideas and educating designers and
contract dealers in many of it's Showcase Showrooms.
