6.25.10 | Trenton, NJ | The Committee on the Environment
of the New Jersey chapter of the American Institute of Architects
(AIA-NJ), has announced that its green conference, East Coast Green, will
be held at Bally's Atlantic City, N.J., on Sept. 16 and 17, in
conjunction with its annual Design Day event. The theme of the event will be "Meeting the Architecture 2030 Goals." Architecture 2030 is a U.S.-based, environmental advocacy group focused on protecting the global environment by using innovation and common sense to develop, and quickly implement, bold solutions to global warming. The conference will feature 40 presenters, as well as the three keynote speakers: president of Waterkeeper Alliance, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.; founder of "The Architecture 2030 Challenge," Edward Mazria; and internationally recognized proponent and practitioner of sustainability, Bill Reed. In addition, there will be over 30 courses, all of which are eligible for AIA continuing education credit and are pending approval for USGBC credits. "The line-up of keynote speakers at East Coast Green comprises a virtual who's who of the green marketplace," said Jason Kliwinski, AIA, LEED AP, president of AIA-NJ. "That, coupled with the cross-disciplinary collaboration, makes this a one-of-a-kind green building conference." To register, visit the East Coast Green website at www.aia-nj.org/ECG/ and click the "Register to Attend Here" tab. Pricing varies depending on the package -- two-day pass, one-day pass or a la carte items. "Early Bird" rates are available through July 31 as well as discounts for AIA members, government officials, educators and students. Sponsorship and exhibit opportunities are available. Sponsors and exhibitors will have the opportunity to increase their company's visibility in the "greening" consumer markets, as well as to network with leaders and present their products and applications to an audience of early adopters and industry leaders. For information on exhibiting or sponsorship, visit the ECG website or e-mail Jack Purvis, AIA, LEED AP, at ECGsponsors@aia-nj.org. Trenton-based AIA-NJ, which has about 2,000 members, is the state chapter of the national AIA, which helps architects serve the public's needs and builds awareness of the role of architects and architecture in American society. |

Hailing originally from Israel and moving to Europe in 1988, Levy currently works in Paris with his 20-strong team of designers and graphic artists forming L design. Under the vision of Levy the firm also produces brand identities, packaging, signage, exhibition and interior design. Levy continues to contribute substantially to our interior and exterior milieu, his work including public sculpture - his signature Rock pieces - as well as complete environments that can be adapted for multi use. Most importantly, see how to harness the Internet to make design consumable, accessible, and digestible to mainstream culture. The Architecture Keynote is Craig Dykers Senior Partner/Director, Snøhetta, Oslo/New York. Snøhetta has designed cultural projects around the world, including Egypt’s Bibliotheca Alexandria, Norway’s National Opera in Oslo and NYC’s National September 11 Memorial Museum Pavilion. Dykers has worked on the design of several prominent cultural projects including the aforementioned projects. His other projects include the Lillehammer Winter Olympics Art Museum and the Norwegian Embassy in Berlin. Snøhetta has been the recipient of the Aga Khan, Mies Van der Rohe and World Architecture Prizes. 2.4.10 | Baltimore, MD | The eighth annual NeoCon® East will be held Dec. 15-16, 2010, returning to the Baltimore Convention Center. The premier design exposition for commercial interiors with a focus on the federal government attracts industry professionals who are responsible for the repair, retrofit and green building modernization of city, county, state and federal buildings. More than 7,500 are expected to attend the show for two exciting days of new products, special events - including a holiday celebration- and educational offerings. “NeoCon East is positioned to have a continued growth trajectory, just as it has since it began in 2003,” said Mark Falanga, senior vice president of MMPI. “Taking place during the first quarter of the 2011 fiscal year, government buyers are flush with new budgets and are looking for products to fill their organization’s needs, and NeoCon East provided them with the perfect environment.” NeoCon East is an important trade show for the Federal Design Community because it features Government Interiors, which focuses on products and services geared to federal government procurement specifiers. The new December dates are endorsed by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), which has been a significant part of NeoCon East in the past and will return with a large presence in the 2010 show. Also, GSA will be hosting its Quality Partnership Council (QPC) Meeting in conjunction with the show – which helps to foster a common understanding between customer, contractor, and GSA through communication and education. With more than 250 exhibitors in 240,000 square-feet of exhibit space, NeoCon East sets the pace for the Mid-Atlantic contract furnishings industry, focusing on the Federal Design Community. Industry professionals including architects, interior designers, facility managers, government specifiers, government designers, space planners, distributors, manufacturers, real estate professionals and students rely on this event for innovative ideas and the latest trends in interior design and architecture. More than 50 CEU accredited seminars representing a variety of important topics and covering 12 distinct educational tracks are available to show attendees, including: facilities management; facilities construction and renovation; green design; government services administration; health care; health, safety and welfare; hospitality; institutional; office design; professional development; residential and lighting.
