Luxo's Ninety LED Light Selected For Cooper-Hewitt Exhibition

select designs featured in the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum
exhibition National Design Triennial:
“Why Design Now?” This series, exploring how
designers address human and environmental challenges while urging the need for
international cooperation to solve the challenges of the world, will be open
May 14, 2010 thru January 9, 2011.
The Triennial series, which began in 2000, selects the most innovative and forward-thinking designs from the previous three years. More than 125 projects throughout numerous design disciplines will be presented across eight themes: energy, mobility, community, materials, prosperity, health, communication and simplicity.
Ninety – the world’s most energy-efficient task light – will be a featured project in the Energy category. Ninety’s four high-power LEDs use just 1.4W each, while providing 100 footcandles at a height of 16 inches above the worksurface. Its LEDs have a 45,000 hour life span due to its highly efficient light diode system producing optimal light with low energy consumption. Designed by Shawn Littrell, Ninety combines great design with better lighting ergonomics all in a truly sustainable package.
In addition to the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum recognition, Luxo’s Ninety LED task light has been the recipient of numerous awards including Contract magazine’s Best of NeoCon Gold award, Buildings Magazine’s Innovations Grand Prize award for energy-efficiency, Interior Design’s Green Star Award, the Norwegian Design Council’s Award for Design Excellence and the London Lighting Awards for Best Product in Interior Lighting.
