Cumberland Adds To Designer Speaks Series With Lily Lounge

2010.0208.product.cumberland.Lily_Lounge.jpgLily Lounge
2.4.10 | Grand Rapids, MI | Cumberland Furniture announces the new Lily Lounge designed by Jeffrey Botwin of Herringbone Design in Los Angeles, CA. Taking inspiration from the flora of his West Coast surroundings, Botwin designed a piece with a fluted back that gently opens outward. The form recalls the shapely petals of the lily, many of which are native to California. Available in lounge chair and 2-seat or 3-seat sofa, the pieces feature four-inch-thick upholstery, tapered legs and a continuous wood base that compliments the vertical fluting details of the upholstery.

As part of Cumberland’s national, multiphase program called Designers Speak, the Lily Lounge provides timeless appeal appropriate for general and executive offices, reception areas, gathering areas, lounge areas, museums, galleries, libraries, universities, and club and hospitality venues. Using Cumberland’s breadth of material choices, interior design professionals have great freedom in altering the character of the Lily Lounge.

The Lily Lounge reflects Cumberland’s standards for high quality, beautifully designed modern American classics crafted with honest materials and delivered flawlessly and without attitude. Constructed with a plywood frame, the Lily Lounge benefits from quality handcrafted construction techniques that assure years of reliable use and lasting appeal. The base, which is constructed of maple solids with double dowels and corner-blocked front legs and rails is available in Cumberland’s broad range of wood finish options, organized into palettes of light, medium, and dark.

Literature, specifications, and pricing for the Lily Lounge or other models in the West Coast Collection, are available from Cumberland sales representatives and dealerships in major cities nationwide and in Canada and Europe. These materials are also available from Cumberland Furniture by calling (800) 401-7877 or visiting its website at www.cumberlandfurniture.com.

About Designers Speak

A national, multiphase program, Designers Speak allows design leaders across the States to express themselves in product designs that speak to their region and their own hearts, as well as to market needs. Through this program, designers from the East Coast to the West Coast are stepping out, taking the lead, and shaping design within the United States. They are making it possible for Cumberland to introduce timeless, classic pieces of furniture—not too trendy, not too modern, and not too traditional—that have the ability to adapt to various interiors.

About Cumberland

Founded in the 1950s, Cumberland was purchased in 1998 by Grand Rapids-based contract furniture industry entrepreneur Scott Gilmore. Even before Gilmore’s leadership, Cumberland was well known for its elegant designs for tables, desks, benches, and office and lobby seating. Today, Cumberland’s products reflect a cohesive design offering while giving its design partners freedom to create products distinct in their own right. The result is modern American classics that are always in style, fresh and interesting, whether offered last century or today.
