BULBRITE Partners With Energy Star And NYSERDA
7.2.09 | Moonachie, NJ | Bulbrite has partnered with ENERGY STAR® and
the NYSERDA (New York State Energy Research and Development
Association) program to promote energy efficient products throughout
the state of New York. BULBRITE is a leading manufacturer and supplier

Bulbrite began the ENERGY STAR® and NYSERDA program on April 25, 2009 with an Earth Day promotion thru the NBC television affiliate, News Channel 13, in Albany, New York. The NBC affiliate hosted a recycling day at a local furniture store in Albany and invited local consumers to drive by with their un-used electronics and other recyclables. Each family that donated recyclable materials was given a FREE Bulbrite 13-watt ENERGY STAR- approved compact fluorescent bulb. In total, 2,000 bulbs were handed out to the local residents and by using these energy saving bulbs, over 800,000 kilowatt-hours will be saved.
Bulbrite's second promotion began on May 1st and is being implemented through the end of June. With this second program, BULBRITE is offering ENERGY STAR®-approved compact fluorescents to its distributors throughout New York at deeply discounted prices. With each order, educational pamphlets, as well as counter mats (made from recycled materials), will be included, promoting the many benefits of energy saving light bulbs. By offering discounted prices, as well as providing educational material, BULBRITE distributors are promoting energy efficiency while passing along the savings to the consumers. Thru this promotion, BULBRITE hopes to distribute approximately 35,000 ENERGY STAR®-approved compact fluorescents and save nearly 20 million kilowatt hours over the life of the bulbs.
Matching the correct ENERGY STAR®-approved compact fluorescent with the appropriate type of lighting fixture helps ensure maximum performance and lamp life. To choose the CFL with the right amount of light, the consumer needs to select a CFL that is labeled as equivalent to the incandescent bulb being replaced. Consumers should also check the lumen rating to find the right CFL; the higher the lumen rating, the greater the light output.
In the average American home, lighting accounts for about 20% of the electric bill. Americans can save money and protect the environment by installing energy-efficient lighting. If every home in the U.S. replaced just one light bulb with an energy saving bulb, Americans would save enough energy to illuminate more than 3 million homes for one year, more than $600 million in annual energy costs, and prevent greenhouse gases that are equivalent to the emissions of more than 800,000 cars.
